Vitamin D3 + Fat SolubilityUpdated 2 months ago

Q: While vitamin D3 is a fat-soluble nutrient, why does it not have to be taken with food/oil/fat?

A: The fact that Megafood products do not need to be taken with food speaks more to the stomach discomfort that some individuals have when they take traditional isolated vitamins on an empty stomach. Because our products deliver nutrients in whole foods, these individuals are generally able to take our products without food without experiencing discomfort.

However, the fact that D3 is an oil soluble nutrient shouldn't be a major issue for bioavailability in the body since bile contains a number of fat-solubilizing compounds that will ensure Vitamin D finds it way into the small intestine in an absorbable form. If an individual feels more comfortable taking our vitamins with additional food and fat sources, then by all means they should.
