Testing Methods: HPLC & ICPUpdated 2 months ago

Q: How do you test your ingredients?

A: MegaFood utilizes High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography. This piece of equipment generates a chromatographic fingerprint which is used to ID herbs and botanicals. Chromatographed samples are cross referenced with a chemical and botanical reference standard. Additionally we utilize High Performance Liquid Chromatography to test vitamins and vitamin-like compounds. This process allows for exact quantification of a specific vitamin so that we can be certain of label claims.

Liquid Chromatography – Mass Spectrometry - LC-MS is used to test for biotin.

ICP-OES – Inductively Coupled Plasma – Optical Emission Spectrometry is the quantitative instrument we use to test for minerals in finished product. It is capable of quantifying minerals down to PPM.

We additionally perform tests to ensure products are free of allergens and work with other specialty labs to test for 150 + herbicides and pesticides. Our laboratory is ISO 9001 certified. We take great pride in the quality of our laboratory and the quality of our products.
