Pressure in Bottles - Information and ProtocolUpdated 2 months ago

******In each case that this is reported, a QC form MUST be filled out. We do not have to collect the bottle, but we do need to take down all relevant information. If the customer is not comfortable taking the product, we would send a replacement/refund through the QC form. We should not send them back to the store. ********

Thank you for taking the time to contact us. We have studied these occurrences, and have identified it as a reaction of Vitamin C with the air inside the bottle.  Vitamin C has a natural tendency to consume oxygen present in air, and the result is the creation of carbon dioxide (CO2), the gas used to make soda drinks bubbly.  The amount of CO2 gas created is normally small enough that it is not noticed but at times can be enough to create pressure within the bottle.  This pressure build-up is not indicative of any safety/health concerns and has been taken into account regarding the quantity of vitamin C stated on the label.
