Oxalic Acid in Spinach?Updated 2 months ago

Q: Does the organic spinach in our formulas contain any oxalic acid?

A: Yes, spinach does contain oxalic acid. However, the amounts present in MegaFood products are not enough to rise to the level of concern for healthy individuals. The body maintains a naturally occurring healthy level of oxalic acid - producing it in the absence of being supplied by the diet. It is entirely normal for healthy individuals to ingest reasonable levels of oxalic acid. Only individuals that are susceptible to calcium-oxalate kidney stones or have a rare medical condition (hyperoxaluria) need to limit their intake of oxalate-containing foods. We are unable to provide recommendations for specific health related questions - customers who have those questions should consult with their qualified health professional. Thank you.
