Multivitamin Soft Chews FAQsUpdated 2 months ago
Why is vitamin D listed as micrograms (mcg) instead of IUs?
- The FDA is updating how nutrients must be listed on supplement and nutrition fact panels. One of these changes includes the transition away from IUs to micrograms when it comes to claiming Vitamin D. For more information on these and other changes, check out our blog here.
How are the Multi chews sweetened? How much sugar do they contain per serving?
- MegaFood’s Multi Chews are sweetened with a combination of organic cane sugar and organic rice syrup. 3 grams of sugar per serving.
Where does the palm oil come from? I’ve heard that palm oil is bad for the environment.
- The palm oil we use is sustainably sourced and certified by the Roundtable of Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO)
Why a chew instead of a gummy? I really like gummies!
- Today, there’s a strong and growing preference for alternative forms of supplements, especially by those that take a number of supplements and may have pill fatigue, or those that have difficulty swallowing tablets. From our consumer research, we know that our consumers are actively seeking alternate delivery methods from us, and they find both gummies and soft chews to be appealing formats. When it comes to a multivitamin, it is challenging to fit everything we need into such a small delivery system. Our One Daily Multivitamin Soft Chews provide the first non-tablet form of a multivitamin that only needs one unit per serving. Consumers also like the convenience and portability that individually-wrapped soft chews provide over gummies.
Do the chews contain Food-Paired Vitamins and Fermented Minerals?
- Due to stability challenges and the delicate matrix of the chew form/texture we were not able to deliver the vitamins in a FoodState form, opting instead for the nutrient forms that allow for stability. Each chew includes added farm fresh foods, for a better take on the multi chew.
Why are some nutrients (such as vitamin K and iodine) omitted from these chews?
- Due to the structure of the chews, much like with gummies, not all nutrients work with the chew matrix. For this reason, some nutrients were omitted to ensure the chew integrity.
Where are the multi chews made?
- The multi chews are made by our manufacturing partner in the United States (Virginia).
Why are you using pouches instead of jars?
- The Soft Chews are a confectionary, and require additional stability to ensure a prolonged shelf-life and high quality chew. Additionally, glass is a safety hazard with confectionary-based supplements.
Are the soft chew pouches recyclable?
- No. The pouches that contain the soft chews are not recyclable, as they are specially crafted with several layers to prolong shelf-life and ensure a high-quality chew. While there are recyclable pouches available, they dramatically reduce the shelf-life of the product.
Do the soft chews melt easily?
- While any confectionary is more likely to melt, the soft-chews are more stable than a gummy, and will not melt unless exposed to temperatures above 140 degrees F. With that being said, we caution against keeping in high temperatures for prolonged periods of time.
