Does cyanocobalamin contain cyanide?Updated 2 months ago
Cyanocobalamin is one of the most widely manufactured forms of vitamin B12 and is produced by bacterial fermentation. This is very different from volatile forms of cyanide that are toxic and poisonous at large doses. Cyanocobalamin goes through a controlled process that removes the cyanide fragment of the B12 and safely converts it to a harmless molecule called thiocyanate which is then safely excreted. All that remains after this process the pure cobalamin fragment that serves as the active Vitamin B12.
